The American Academy of Equine Art
Establishing a Standard of Excellence in the Field of Equine Art

Important Workshop Information
  • The AAEA offers equal opportunity education and does not discriminate on the basis of national or ethnic origin, race or gender.

  • AAEA workshop students come from all backgrounds, vary in age from sixteen to eighty, and include all levels of ability from beginner to professional artist.

  • Students are enrolled on a “first application received” basis. A waiting list is established if a workshop is filled.

  • Class size is limited to 12 students.

  • Full tuition payment must be made at the time of registration to guarantee placement in a workshop.

  • Tuition does not include the cost of art supplies, travel, meals or accommodations.

  • Bring your camera. The workshop location offers a rich variety of equine and landscape photo opportunities.

  • CONFIRMATION: Students will receive written confirmation upon receipt of their registration form and tuition payment.

  • SUPPLIES: Once registered, the student will receive a supply list for each class they are enrolled in. Students are advised to bring their supplies with them. Art supply stores are available in the area, but will require transportation to get to them.

  • MEALS: A cafeteria-style restaurant is located at the Horse Park. Several restaurants and other fast food outlets are located a short drive away. Brown bagging is also an option.

  • PARKING: Students should inform the gateperson at the Horse Park entrance that they are in an AAEA workshop. Students will be sent a parking pass to display on their dashboard while on the park grounds. There will be no charge for parking.

  • CLOTHING: Generally, summer workshop students may count on hot, humid weather.
In September and later, weather conditions are unpredictable, ranging from hot and humid to quite cool. Fall workshop students should bring clothing to run the gamut and include rain gear.

  • TRANSFERS: $40.00 fee will be charged to the student, to transfer enrollment from one workshop to another for all circumstances. The transfer must be requested no less than 30 days prior to the beginning of a requested class and is subject to availability.

  • REFUNDS: No refunds of any kind will be made for no-shows or for cancellations made less than 30 days prior to the beginning of a class. Students who stop attending during class without prior approval will forfeit all claims for tuition refund or credit.

  • CANCELLATIONS: A $75.00 fee will apply for each workshop cancelled after registration. Students who wish to cancel must notify the AAEA office staff in person or by telephone. Email and messages left on the office answering machine are not acceptable forms of cancellation. The remaining balance of workshop funds will be returned if cancellation occurs no less than 30 days prior to the beginning of a class.

The Academy reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment or due to circumstances beyond the Academy’s control. If a cancellation is necessary, all tuition will be refunded and transfer options will be made available at no extra fee to the student. The AAEA is not responsible for cancelled travel and hotel arrangements.
