Martin H. Bettin
Award winning artist Martin Bettin is a noted animal portraiture artist and signature member of the Sierra Pastel Society. Martin's affinity with horses began in New York City, where he cam to know and respect the horses that delivered milk, ice and fresh vegetables in his neighborhood. After learning the farrier trade, Bettin worked with many breeds and acquired an interest in driving horses in competition. Now retired, he has taken the opportunity to present these magnificent creatures on canvas. For Bettin, every horse has dignity and beauty. As an artist he attempts to capture that individual character.
Bettin has studied at various colleges and taken workshops for many years. He received the Best of Show in the juried show, At tat the Classic, held in conjunction with the Draft Horse Classic in Grass Valley, California. He was awarded the program cover for the Classic two years later. He has the honor of being juried into the Academy of Equine Art Fall Show on three separate occasions.
