Roy Miller was born in Manchester, England. He began work in a commercial
art studio at the age of 14 while studying in the evenings at the
Manchester Regional College of Art. After National Military Service,
he moved to London and worked in various studios, then became a free-lance
illustrator in 1961. Roy currently lives in Kent, England.
Roy
has exhibited in numerous shows and galleries including the Royal
Academy Exhibition of 1961. He has specialized in equestrian
paintings since 1973. His many commissions have included those
for H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth, the Coaching Club of Great Britain,
the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club, Virginia Gold Cup, Ontario Jockey
Club, Far Hills Race Meeting Association U.S.A., Cirencester
Park Polo Club, and United Racecourse Ltd. The Injured Jockey's
Fund has used Roy's paintings on four occasions for its popular
Christmas Card series. His paintings are in many well-known collections
in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan and
the United States.
Roy
has prints available of many well-known horses, jockeys and racing
and steeplechasing events. He also produces commission works.
