A graduate of the Alberta College of Art, and Full Member of the American
Academy of Equine Art, Michelle is a versatile artist who excels in a
variety of mediums, winning awards for her pencil, watercolors, oils and
acrylics. Her work has been recognized internationally for its excellence
including several prestigious awards from the American Academy of Equine
Art. Michelle has also created four designs for coins for the Royal Canadian
Mint, and she is frequently sought after for corporate commissions. Born in
Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Michelle's work centers on her love for horses,
however her work also includes a variety of portraits and wildlife. Michelle
brings a sound understanding of design, light, form and anatomy to all of
her work. The consistent quality of her work has resulted in its collection
by both private and corporate clients. It has also been published in
numerous magazine articles, catalog covers, and published in two books.
She likes to "go places and do things" and then paints the images she finds
inspiring from the event. "Going places and doing things" typically includes
horseback riding, fishing, and hiking, attending rodeos, brandings, horse
races and show jumping events.
At present, continuing to work out of her home studio and teach art classes
part-time in Calgary, Michelle is enjoying success both as an art instructor
and an artist.
