AAEA - KIM S. FARRIS

“I began ‘painting’ as a little child with my grandmother. She had taken up painting as a hobby late in life, and she had such patience with me. She never minded the mess I made as I played with her oils!”
Kim’s actual interest in art began with a high school art class. She became captivated with the way color and texture could transform an ordinary subject into something beautiful. Her love for creating that special moment on canvas continued to grow and she majored in fine art at Auburn University. Thereafter, she went on to have a successful career as a graphic artist in Dallas, TX. Kim has since gone on to study watercolor and portraiture. Her style is extremely realistic and she captures the inner personality of her subjects in a way that makes them seem to come alive.
“I am passionate about painting. It’s a way of reaching out to people that is like nothing else. I have been selling paintings for 20 years, but it is still a thrill for me if I can capture the personality of your child or horse for you in a portrait that will last a lifetime.”
Kim’s work can be found in numerous private collections. She is a member of the Equine Art Guild and an associate member of the American Academy of Equine Art. Currently her work is on display at the Dover Saddlery in Atlanta, Georgia. Her work has recently been featured in Sidelines Magazine and The Central Florida Barn Book.
Kim and her family live in Roswell, GA. To see more of her art, visit www.paintingsbyfarris.com. To contact Kim, please call 770-998-1800 or e-mail: kfstudio@bellsouth.net.
