Marnie Donaldson has painted landscape and figurative work for more than twenty-five years. A former horsewoman, she is currently specializing in equine sports art. Working primarily in either pastel or oil, Donaldson expresses her love for the action, drama and color of show jumping and other horse sports through a distinctive style that she describes as "loose realism."

Major national juried shows in which she has exhibited include the National Watercolor Society Annual, Watercolor West, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition, The International Exhibition of the Women Artists of the West, the Pastel Society of America, The Pastel Society of the West Coast and the American Academy of Equine Art Annual.

Marnie has won more than 80 awards in local, regional and national art competitions. She was elected to full signature membership in the National Watercolor Society, the Pastel Society of the West Coast, the Pastel Society of America and the American Academy of Equine Art. Among her awards have been the Gold Medal for Pastel from the Women Artists of the West, the B & V Giffuni Purchase Award for two years in a row at the Pastel Society of America Annual in New York City and the Award for Pastel and an Award of Distinction from the American Academy of Equine Art.

Donaldson began her art education at the University of California-Davis under the mentorship of noted realist Wayne Thiebaud. She continues her studies with many nationally prominent figure painters including Don Andrews, Sally Strand and Neil Boyle.
