The American Academy of Equine Art is planning to produce a 2009 Calendar featuring contemporary equine art. We are looking for 12 feature paintings or sculptures plus one for the cover. Your work could be a part of this calendar. Just enter the competition. Submissions will be posted on this site. Each month the general public will vote on line for 10 finalists. At the end of the year, a jury of AAEA artists will choose the 13 winners from the 120 finalists. The winners will be included in the 2009 Calendar. At the end of the competition, the winners and the finalists will be featured here at this site in an online exhibition with information on the individual artists and sales information for the artwork.
Start planning now to enter the AAEA Calendar competition. Enter as often as you like. Entries are $25 for the first one and $10 for each additional one throughout the year. The more times you enter the better your chance of becoming a monthly finalist.
The DEADLINE is closing fast! This will be the LAST MONTH! The contest ends April 2008. Be sure to get your entries in now!
Submission Guidelines
We will accept slides, photos or JPEG images on a CD. JPEG images must be in RGB format, 120 DPI and no larger than five inches on the longest dimension (approximately 500 pixels). JPG images should be clear and represent your art as accurately as possible. Identify your images with your name, address, phone number and email, title, medium and unframed size. Images not identified as specified will not be accepted. All entries must be original artwork. Drawings, paintings and sculpture are acceptable. Sorry, no photographs.

Specifics
The artist retains ownership of the artwork; however, entry into the contest constitutes permission for the AAEA to use the image for publicity purposes and to display it on the AAEA website. If the artwork is chosen to be included in the calendar, the AAEA has the right to print and include that image in the calendar.
Each month the entries that have been received for that month will be put on the website and the general public will vote for its favorites. All efforts will be made to try to insure that a "one person, one vote" ratio is maintained. Once the finalists for that month have been chosen, the entries for that month will be taken off the web site. While an artist may enter as many images as he or she wishes, the same image cannot be entered for more than one month.
If your entry is chosen to be included in the calendar we will need to either have the original art, to be scanned for printing or a professionally produced scan of the artwork that is CMYK mode and at least 1200 dpi, and 11" w x 8.5" d. For more information please call the AAEA at 859-281-6031.
