welch-a.jpg - 11522 BytesRosemary was born in Ramsbury, Wiltshire, UK to an artist mother, Dorothy Welch, who illustrated books. At age nine Rosemary traveled to America and attended school in Mt. Kisco, New York. She returned to the UK at age fifteen and attended the St. Ives School of Painting in Cornwall, where she studied portraiture. Eventually moving to the New Forest; her love of horses began. She painted the native New Forest ponies and soon started to specialize in heavy horses.

Ms. Welch has exhibited with the St. Ives Society of Artists since age nineteen. She is a regular exhibitor with the Society of Women Artists at their annual Spring show. In London. She also exhibits with the Omell Galleries in London, Ascot and Australia. John Davies at Stow-On-The-Wold has mounted several one-man shows for her and she has exhibited at the Sporting Gallery in Middleburg, Virginia, U.S.

Rosemary's paintings are included in the annual calendar featuring Royal Society of Watercolorists artworks produced by Brunel Publications. Rosemary enjoys teaching and regularly uses her two native breed ponies as her models.

Her paintings are in numerous private collections throughout the UK, Europe and the United States.
