moorea.jpg - 12341 BytesA renaissance woman who has worked in top grade organizations in fashion, stage design and window display, on the faculties of Yale Graduate School of Drama, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Kansas City, Moore's work is now represented in an assortment of museums and university collections. She is an officer or board member on several of the country's most prestigious non-profit art organizations.

Having studied painting earlier with such diverse masters as hard edge pioneer, Paul Feeley at Bennington College and Colorist, Henry Hensche at the Cape Cod School of Art, her professional painting career began in the 1960's.

An experienced draughtsman, a loosely impressionistic colorist, and well informed in classical anatomy and composition, Fay became the first woman to receive recognition as a "Sports Artist". Her focus and success with outstanding collectors became centered on the panoply of thoroughbred racing and resulted in a number of important mural commissions for racetracks and related corporations across the country.

In easel-scale work of recent years, her signature style of many layered inks, watercolors, gouaches and pastels has attracted many feature articles and significant awards. Moore's work is available in originals only. The artists explains, "In the personal technique I have developed, the inks and watercolors are stained deep into the absorbency of pastel cloth, canvas, or untreated luan mahogany panels. Next, a middle layer is developed of opaque gouache. Over this textured surface the faceted grains of pure pigment create a structural third dimension (actually measurable in micrometers). This is a quality that no printing technology can possibly reproduce."

By now the market for Fay Moore's work in estate auctions and other secondary sales has confirmed their investment quality.
