"This Is The Way A Lady Rides"
Papercut Drawing, 9" x 12"
$TBA |
From a quickly sketched illustration, to a painstakingly executed paper-cutting intricately depicting a carriage driving scene, an exciting steeplechase event or even a bucolic pastoral scene, Kathi Peters has managed to develop her own unique style. Educated in the U.S. and Europe, Kathi attended The Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Italy, on a full scholarship at the young age of 17. She later attended one of Rome's commercial art schools, again being awarded a full scholarship. Her formative years in art were spent doing graphic design and fashion illustration, helping to strengthen her ability to quickly capture a scene without loosing a sense of design and form.
Today Kathi lives in rural Maine with her husband on their farm in Morrill. They raise Welsh Cobs and enjoy the traditional sport of carriage driving. Her watercolors, caseins or papercuts often portray the equine driving world, but are not limited to that. Her watercolors in delicate hues, with fine line and detail, invite viewers to examine works closely.
Her papercuts take a two-dimensional art form and give it depth and movement. Kathi's casein works are dramatic and vibrant with color. She accepts commission work from clients worldwide in all three mediums.
