dorazio-a.jpg - 8241 BytesSusan Dorazio is a New England artist who has specialized in the field of equine art for over thirty years. She is a fine arts graduate of Silvermine College, Connecticut, and studied illustration and graphic design at the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Her work in watercolor, oil and pen and ink has gained wide acclaim from many horse owners and colleagues locally and nationally. Her portraits represent all breeds, from well-turned out field hunters to draft horses. Her most remarkable talent is to observe the animal's unique personality traits and capture them to perfection. Susan demonstrates a sensitive understanding of the animal psyche, re-creating on paper and canvas not only a remarkable physical likeness but also the individual personality of her subject.

As a Full member of The American Academy of Equine Art, Susan's work can be seen at their yearly exhibitions throughout the country; at the Connecticut Watercolor Society's spring and fall exhibits; the Harness Tracks of America fall auction and exhibition in Kentucky; and the Draft Horse Classic in California in September. Currently, Susan is represented by Fine Line Art Gallery in Woodbury, Connecticut.

Her work has been featured in publications such as The Chronicle of the Horse, Hoof Beats, and Equine Images. Susan has received numerous awards, including Best in Show at the American Academy of Equine Art, the Harness Tracks of America and the Draft Horse Classic.

Susan also produces work by commission in oil, watercolor, or pen and ink. Please call for information.
